ePrescribing Updates
New rules for electronic prescribing procedures were scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2021. The rules would have required that prescriptions for Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances be prescribed electronically unless one of the statutory exceptions are met. However, as the COVID pandemic rages and physicians and their staff are stretched to the limit, an emergency rule waiver has been implemented. The electronic prescribing changes went into effect April 1, 2021.
If you meet one of the statutory exceptions and would like to apply for a waiver, please download the waiver application here, fill it out, save as a .pdf document, and email to BNDDRxWaiver@health.mo.gov.
See the electronic prescribing statute here. The state rule can be found here.
